Philosophy: The North Star Foundations

At North Star, our philosophy is rooted in a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum where children learn best through hands-on exploration and positive, secure relationships. Our mission is to foster a lifelong love for learning, promote critical social-emotional growth, and ensure reliable consistency of care for your child.

Four Core Program Pillars

These guiding principles shape every child’s experience across all of our classrooms:

  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) First: Our program’s distinguishing feature is a strong, intentional focus on Social-Emotional Learning and emotional regulation. We build this foundation first, with age-appropriate expectations, as the essential groundwork for all academic success.
  • Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies (PBIS): We utilize a center-wide model of PBIS to establish a consistent, positive, and supportive learning environment. This framework is key to building connections and teaching children essential life skills for positive behavior.
  • The Lilio Curriculum: We implement the Lilio Curriculum, which uses engaging weekly themes and integrates hands-on STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) to encourage problem-solving and critical thinking from an early age.
  • Individualized Development Screening: To ensure we meet every child’s unique needs, a developmental screening using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) is completed within the first 60 days of enrollment, and annually thereafter. This process helps us identify individual strengths and areas for focused support.

Transportation Options

The Violet Room program provides comprehensive care for school-aged children (5-12 years) to support working families. We offer both before and after-school programs during the school year.

We provide van transportation to and from the following schools: Lemme Elementary, Lucas Elementary, Hoover Elementary.
